CIGI and Business Initiative Group Unite to Uplift Wayanad’s Underserved

CIGI Launches Community Development Center in Meppadi, Wayanad to Empower Marginalized Communities
Wayanad: In a landmark initiative aimed at the holistic development of economically and socially marginalized communities, the Centre for Information and Guidance India (CIGI), in collaboration with the Business Initiative Group (BIG), Jeddah, has launched a Community Development Center (CDC) in Meppadi, Wayanad.
The project was formally inaugurated by Kalpetta MLA Adv. T. Siddique in a well-attended ceremony held at the Aksharam Library Hall, Meppadi. The event reflected the spirit of unity and inclusion, with active participation from representatives of various religious, cultural, and community groups.
As part of the ceremony, Wayanad District Panchayat President Shamshad Marakkar released the official project document, while Meppadi Grama Panchayat President Babu K unveiled the logo of the new CDC.
The function was presided over by CDC Project Director K. Muhammad Shah. Distinguished guests and speakers at the event included A.M. Ashraf (Jeddah Business Initiative Group), Mahal Khatib Mustafa Faizi, CIGI Secretary Kabir Parapoyil, Balachandran, Dr. Muhammad Ilyas, K.M. Basheer, Karadan Najeeb, Salim Master, Rafeeq Muhammad Kutty, A.K. Sayyid, Ramla Hamza, Harris, Nasser, Praseetha Teacher, Khadija Ihsana, and Muhammadali Ovingal.
In his welcome address, CIGI Wayanad District Chapter President Dr. Bava K. Palukkunnu expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the project and extended special thanks to Ashraf Lanmark for his support.
The CDC will function as a hub for programs and services in vocational training, entrepreneurship, education, health awareness, and financial literacy, with a special focus on uplifting women, daily wage earners, and persons with disabilities. The initiative marks another major step in CIGI’s mission to build inclusive, empowered communities across Kerala.
