What is SDI?
Skill Development Institutes (SDIs) are specialized training centers established by public sector oil companies in collaboration with the Central Government's Skill India initiative. These institutes offer technical training programs with a focus on industries such as oil and natural gas. SDIs provide fully residential training, ensuring an immersive learning experience for participants. In addition to Kochi, SDIs are located in Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, and Rae Bareli. The Kerala center is managed by Bharat Petroleum Corporation, providing top-notch training and skill development opportunities for aspiring technicians.
Courses Offered:
1.Industrial Electrician– Gain comprehensive knowledge and hands-on training in controlling electrical power systems within large-scale industries.
2.Industrial Welder– Master advanced welding techniques using a state-of-the-art foreign-made Soldamatic welding simulator for a cutting-edge learning experience.
3.Fitter Fabricator– Learn key skills such as pipe fitting for oil companies and the installation of industrial pipelines, preparing you for a range of critical industrial tasks.
4.Process Instrumentation Operator– Receive specialized training in managing automation networks and control systems within the mechanical and electrical departments of various industries.
Two Batches a Year:
The training program lasts for six months, with two batches starting in March and September. Eligibility for admission is ITI qualification, and each course offers 45 seats, with reserved spots available for female candidates.
Applicants with qualifications in trades such as electrician, wireman, electronic mechanic, instrument mechanic, power electronics, welder, fitter, machinist, turner, sheet metal worker, and tool and die making are encouraged to apply.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The training is conducted in partnership with the Nettoor Technical Training Foundation (NTTF), a renowned institute in skill development.
Campus Placement:
An impressive 90% of graduates from previous years have secured jobs with leading companies, including international placements. Over 40 companies, such as Novatech (Poland), NBTC and IFB (Kuwait), Tata Motors, Schindler, Concert, Saint-Gobain, and Propel, actively collaborate with the institute’s placement cell to provide job opportunities.
Training Method:
Each day begins at 6:15 AM with a yoga session, followed by training from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, six days a week. The program includes not only technical skills but also training in English, computer proficiency, personality development, weekly counseling, and safety classes.
Everything is Free:
All necessary resources, including hostel accommodation, food, uniforms, lab coats, yoga attire, bags, books, safety shoes, and other study materials, are provided at no cost to the students.
Entrance Exam:
Selection is based on a multiple-choice entrance exam conducted twice a year. Notifications are released one and a half months before the course begins. Applications must be submitted online through the official website.
